Flag of Rhineland-Palatinate: a black-red-gold horizontal tricolor with the state coat of arms in the upper hoist.
The flag uses the black, red, and gold national colors of Germany. Its coat of arms combines symbols of the historic powers that ruled the region before the French Revolution: Trier, Mainz, and the Palatinate. The crown above the shield is a people's crown with vine-leaf motifs, reflecting the region’s viticultural heritage. The flag was created in 1947 after the establishment of Rhineland-Palatinate and was officially adopted on 10 May 1948.
