History
The flag of Bucharest uses the Romanian tricolour of blue, yellow, and red with the city’s coat of arms placed centrally. The coat of arms includes a mural crown symbolizing the city’s fortifications and capital status, while the heraldic elements express Bucharest’s civic identity and patronage. The current form was officially adopted in the mid-1990s after the re-establishment of municipal symbols in post-communist Romania.
