History

The flag of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is a banner of the region’s coat of arms, officially adopted on 12 January 1999. It combines historic emblems of the territories that form the region: the left-hand field uses the traditional red and yellow Provençal stripes, while the right-hand field displays a dolphin from the former province of Dauphiné and an eagle derived from the arms of the County of Nice.
