History
The reverse side of Paraguay’s national flag bears the seal of the treasury on the white band of the red-white-blue triband. The seal features a lion and a Phrygian liberty cap, encircled by the motto “Paz y Justicia” (“Peace and Justice”). Paraguay’s two-sided national flag is unique among sovereign states, with different designs on the obverse and reverse. The design was formally adopted on 27 November 1842 and was last revised in 2013, while retaining the 11:20 proportion.
