History
Lesotho adopted its current national flag on 4 October 2006 to mark the 40th anniversary of independence. The design returned to the blue-white-green horizontal triband used at independence, while replacing the earlier white hat with a black mokorotlo to emphasize Basotho identity and cultural heritage. The blue represents rain and sky, the white stands for peace, and the green symbolizes the land and prosperity.
