The flag of Kalmykia is a gold field with a centered light blue circle containing a white lotus flower.
The current flag of the Republic of Kalmykia was adopted on 30 July 1993 in a 1:2 proportion and was designed by Bata Badmayevich Erdneyev. The yellow field symbolizes the sun and the Tibetan Buddhist faith of the Kalmyk people, the blue circle represents the eternal blue sky and steadiness, and the white lotus signifies purity, spiritual rebirth, and happiness. The five upper petals represent the five continents and the four lower petals the cardinal directions, expressing friendship and cooperation with all nations.
