History
The flag of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast was adopted in 2001 and was designed by Andriy Grechylo. It has a 2:3 proportion. The crowned black jackdaw symbolizes the historic city of Halych, the traditional heart of Galicia. The red and black stripes refer to the colors of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and historic Red Ruthenia, while the blue and yellow stripes represent the national colors of Ukraine; together they express the region’s tradition of struggle for independence.
