The flag of Honduras features three horizontal stripes of turquoise blue, white, and turquoise blue, with five turquoise five-pointed stars centered in the white band in an X pattern.
Honduras uses a 1:2 horizontal triband of turquoise blue, white, and turquoise blue with five turquoise stars centered on the white stripe. The design dates to 16 February 1866 and was modeled on the flag of the former United Provinces of Central America. The five stars represent Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, and express the hope of renewed Central American unity. The blue stripes symbolize the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea, as well as the sky and brotherhood, while the white stripe represents Honduras, peace, prosperity, and purity. The current turquoise shade was officially reinstated on 27 January 2022.
