History
This is an unofficial flag used for the municipality of Bergen in North Holland, the Netherlands. It displays the municipal logo introduced in 2001, when the new municipality was formed through the merger of Bergen, Egmond, and Schoorl. The blue rectangle represents the area's abundant water and is associated with stability and reliability, while the orange element evokes a wave or drifting sand and also suggests a paint stroke, referring to the sea, local dynamism, and Bergen's artistic heritage. The design has been used locally but was never officially adopted as a municipal flag.
