Flag of Los Santos Province, a horizontal blue-yellow-red tricolor used as a historical provincial banner in Panama.
This flag was used in 1821 when La Villa de Los Santos declared its independence from Spain. Its design derives from the colors proposed by Francisco de Miranda for a pan-American nation, but arranged in the reversed order seen on the flag first hoisted at Vela de Coro in 1806. The colors symbolize the blood and bravery of the patriots, liberty and vigilance, and the wealth and hope of the new republic. The same design was also used in the province of Azuero from 1850 to 1855.
