History
The flag of Panama’s Darién Province was adopted on 12 September 2017. Its green field symbolizes the province’s rainforest, and a white wavy band in the official design represents the Darién River and the province’s maritime gateway. A golden sun with twelve rays in the canton signifies the province as a natural entrance between North and South America and refers to twelve indigenous peoples historically associated with the area.
