Flag of Guna Yala with horizontal red, yellow, and green bands, a central emblem of crossed arms holding a bow and spear, and eight black stars arranged in an arc.
This flag is associated with Guna Yala in Panama. A swastika-based Guna flag was adopted in 1925 after the Guna Revolution and was created by Waga Ebinkili, also known as María Colman. In Guna cosmogony, the central swastika-like symbol represented an octopus, creator of the world, and expressed cosmic balance, fertility, and origin. In 1942 a thin red ring was added in one variant to distinguish it from the Nazi emblem, and later variants also appeared with thin red bands at the top and bottom.
