History
The current design is a vertical blue, yellow, and red tricolour with centered arms, formally standardized in July 1993 when Andorra joined the United Nations. The flag’s origins date to an 1806 red-and-yellow banner, and the blue stripe was added in 1866, traditionally attributed to Napoleon III. The coat of arms includes symbols associated with the Bishop of Urgell, Catalonia, Béarn, and the Count of Foix, along with the motto “Virtus unita fortior.”
