History
The flag of Amur Oblast was adopted on 16 April 1999. It is divided horizontally with red above and blue below, separated by a white serpentine stripe one-fifteenth of the flag’s height. The white wave represents the Amur River, the red symbolizes the region’s rich history and achievements, and the blue denotes the river and regional waters. The color scheme echoes the Russian national flag. A minor redesign in 2008 slightly widened and raised the white wave while preserving the overall design.
