Flag of Almaty: a white field with broad red stripes at the top and bottom, centered on a circular blue-and-gold city emblem featuring a snow leopard beneath mountains.
The flag of Almaty was officially adopted on 21 July 2011. Its red field elements symbolize the city’s famed aport apple, historically associated with the region. Blue refers to Kazakhstan’s sky-blue national color, while the stylized Ile Alatau mountains and eight white apple-shaped flowers connect the design to Almaty’s geography and its eight administrative districts.
