History
The flag of Volgograd Oblast was adopted on 20 October 2006 in a 2:3 proportion. Its red field commemorates the heroic sacrifice and bloodshed associated with the Battle of Stalingrad. The blue stripe symbolizes the Volga River, and the emblem references the region’s historical identity and memory of defense.
