History

Rostov Oblast officially adopted this flag on 26 October 1996. The blue stripe symbolizes the Don River and the sky, the yellow stripe represents fertile grain fields and regional wealth, the red stripe refers to courage and Cossack heritage, and the white hoist stripe stands for purity, peace, and the steppe lands. The design belongs to the post-Soviet period, when Russian federal subjects adopted distinct regional symbols.
