The flag of Palestine features three horizontal stripes of black, white, and green with a red triangle at the hoist.
This flag uses the Pan-Arab colors and derives from the Arab Revolt flag of 1916. It emerged in the 1920s as an emblem of Arab nationalism in Palestine, was used during the 1936–1939 Arab Revolt, was formally adopted by the Palestine Liberation Organization on 1 December 1964, and was later adopted by the State of Palestine on 15 November 1988. The colors are traditionally associated with historic Arab dynasties: black with the Abbasids, white with the Umayyads, green with the Fatimids, and red with the Hashemite dynasty.
