North Chungcheong Province

The flag of North Chungcheong Province was adopted in 1999 as part of the province’s modern visual identity. It displays a stylized emblem based on the initials “ㅊㅂ” for Chungcheongbuk-do. The purple element represents aspiration toward the sky, and the blue element symbolizes the waters and lakes of the province. The overall radial composition and arrow-like forms express development from the center of Korea toward a wider global role, while the eleven strokes of the emblem represent the balanced development and cooperation of the province’s eleven cities and counties.
