History
Busan adopted this flag in 1995 following a city-wide design contest. Its symbolism links the city’s surrounding mountains, especially Geumjeongsan, with the rivers and seas around Busan, while the wave motif represents resilience, outward reach, and future-oriented ambition as a major maritime gateway.
