Liguria

The flag of Liguria was adopted on 27 June 1997. It is a vertical tricolor of green, red, and blue with the region’s emblem centered on the red stripe. The emblem represents a stylized silver caravel with a white sail charged with a red cross and four silver stars, reflecting Liguria’s historic seafaring tradition and maritime heritage centered on Genoa. The green represents the Ligurian Alps and Apennines, the red commemorates blood shed for Italian unification, and the blue symbolizes the Ligurian Sea.
