History

The flag of the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia was adopted on 25 March 1996. Its light blue, green, and red stripes symbolize tranquility and bright impulses, nature and fertility, and warmth and closeness among the peoples of the republic. The central white disc with a stylized sun and mountain represents unity, the radiant spirit of the region’s ethnic groups, and the Caucasus mountains.
