Blue flag with three gold fleurs-de-lis arranged two above one, the traditional cultural flag of Île-de-France.
The cultural flag of Île-de-France is a banner of the historic arms of the province. Its blue field recalls the royal colors of France, while the three fleurs-de-lis symbolize the historic French monarchy. The three-lily form was adopted by King Charles V in the late 14th century as a sign of the Trinity, and the banner has continued in de facto use as a traditional provincial emblem even though the modern administrative region uses a different white logo flag.
