National flag of Cambodia featuring blue-red-blue horizontal stripes with a white Angkor Wat emblem centered on the red band.
The current national flag of Cambodia was restored in 1993 after the UN-supervised elections. Its design features a blue-red-blue horizontal triband with a centered white silhouette of Angkor Wat. According to the provided sources, blue symbolizes the monarchy, unity, brotherhood, and cooperation; red represents the bravery of the Cambodian people and Buddhist heritage; and the white temple stands for integrity, justice, heritage, purity, and Buddhism. The Angkor Wat motif first appeared on the flag adopted at independence in 1953, was replaced during the Khmer Republic and Democratic Kampuchea periods, altered in the State of Cambodia, and then restored in its present form in 1993.
Current triband design adopted
Cambodia adopted the blue-red-blue flag with white Angkor Wat, replacing the earlier red flag with a blue border.
Triband replaced by Khmer Republic flag
The Khmer Republic introduced a blue flag with a red canton, white Angkor Wat, and three stars.
1948 flag readopted
Cambodia readopted the blue-red-blue flag with white Angkor Wat.
