Bund Deutscher Nordschleswiger

The flag depicts the two lions found on the coat of arms of the historical Duchy of Schleswig and still present on the flag of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. The lions were taken from the Danish coat of arms, although reduced in number by one. The bridge below the lions symbolises the wish to connect the people on both sides of the German-Danish border. The colours of blue and gold are the historical colours of Schleswig and are also found on other flags in the region.
