History

The flag of Andalusia was approved by the Assembly of Ronda in 1918 under the initiative of Blas Infante and was later formalized in 1982 as the civil and state flag of the autonomous community. Its green-white-green design uses a green historically called Verde Omeya, associated with Andalusia’s Umayyad legacy and green landscape, while white symbolizes purity, peace, and hope for the future.
