History
Ascension Island adopted this flag on 11 May 2013. It is a Blue Ensign defaced with the island’s coat of arms, which had been approved in May 2012 after public consultation. The arms represent local geography and wildlife, including Green Mountain, sea turtles, Wideawake terns, beaches, and a land crab, following the established British overseas territory ensign tradition.
