The flag of Acadia is a blue-white-red vertical tricolour with a gold five-pointed star in the upper hoist of the blue stripe.
The flag of Acadia was devised by Father Marcel-François Richard and adopted on 15 August 1884 at the Second Acadian National Convention in Miscouche, Prince Edward Island. Its design follows the French tricolour to express Acadian French heritage, while the gold star, known as Stella Maris, represents devotion to the Virgin Mary and serves as a distinct emblem of Acadian identity. The flag became a rallying symbol during the late nineteenth-century Acadian Renaissance and is widely used in Acadian communities, especially in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
