History
Yogyakarta is a special autonomous region of Indonesia. A widely used regional flag is a white-over-red bicolor that reflects the long-standing red-and-white tradition associated with Java, the Majapahit era, and Indonesian nationalism. White is associated with purity and spiritual authority, while red represents bravery, sacrifice, and the struggle for independence.
