History
The flag of Walloon Brabant was adopted on 1 January 1995 when the former Province of Brabant was divided into Flemish Brabant, Walloon Brabant, and the Brussels-Capital Region. Its black and yellow colors and the lion derive from the historic heraldry of the Duchy of Brabant, while the red claws and tongue follow the traditional Brabant lion. The design preserves the historic Brabant identity within the new provincial framework.
