Quartered regional flag of Ústí nad Labem with two white lions on red, a white gate above blue-and-white waves on green and blue, and a white plough on blue over green.
The flag of the Ústí nad Labem Region combines historic and geographic symbols of the area in a quartered design. The Bohemian lion represents the region’s place within historic Bohemia, while the helmeted lion refers to Ústí nad Labem, the regional capital. The remaining quarters represent the northern Bohemian landscape and regional heritage, including the Elbe River, surrounding hills, and the plough associated with Přemysl the Ploughman. A public design competition was announced in June 2001, and the regional flag was formally adopted in 2001.
