History
The flag is a banner of the Central Bohemian Region’s coat of arms. It combines a silver eagle of St. Wenceslas on blue, red Bohemian lions, and two wavy blue stripes representing the Vltava and Labe rivers. The eagle refers to the medieval Přemyslid ruling dynasty and to the early formation of the Bohemian state in central Bohemia. The design was formalized after the 2000 Regional Administration Act and approved in 2001 by the relevant parliamentary authorities.
