#12878 · stylized
The national flag of Peru has a 2:3 proportion and was officially adopted on 25 February 1825, with the current detailed version dating from 31 March 1950. Its red and white colors are associated with independence, peace, purity, and the legacy of the Incas. Earlier Peruvian flags included a diagonal quartered design with a central emblem and a horizontal red-white-red version with a red sun before the present vertical triband was established.
