North Sulawesi

North Sulawesi is an Indonesian province. A provincial flag design using blue, red, and a white five-pointed star was formally adopted in 1969 shortly after the province’s creation in 1964. In that design, blue symbolizes the surrounding seas and maritime heritage, red represents courage and sacrifice, white denotes purity and the aspiration for peace, and the five points of the star stand for the five original administrative divisions: Manado, Minahasa, Bolaang Mongondow, the Sangihe Islands, and the Talaud Islands.
