History

Mississauga adopted this municipal flag in 1974 when the town became a city. The design is a slightly modified version of the former town flag and uses the city’s official blue and orange colours. Its central shield was originally designed in 1964 and presents symbols for aviation, agriculture, industry, and the historic communities of Streetsville and Port Credit, while the laurel leaves represent honour and distinction.
