History
The flag of Kirovohrad Oblast was adopted on 29 July 1998. Its design was created by Vitaliy Kryvenko and Kostiantyn Shliakhovyi. The stylized steppe eagle is based on a Scythian ornamental gold statuette found in the Melgunov Kurgan and symbolizes the region’s ancient nomadic heritage and native land. The crimson field represents dignity, strength, and historic Cossack traditions, while the yellow field signifies the wealth of the fertile steppe, wheat farming, and regional prosperity.
