Flag of Flevoland, featuring a blue upper field, a green lower field, a wavy yellow stripe across the middle, and a white fleur-de-lis in the canton.
The flag of Flevoland was adopted on 9 January 1986 and formally defined on 15 February 1989. It was designed by the Amsterdam studio BRS. Its design represents the reclamation of land from the IJsselmeer: blue stands for water, green for the rural landscape, and the yellow stripe for rapeseed and other crops associated with the new polders. The white fleur-de-lis honors Cornelis Lely, whose reclamation plan made the province possible, and also serves as a heraldic pun on his name.
