History
The flag of Basra Governorate uses a white field with the governorate’s official emblem at the center. The emblem represents Basra’s maritime, agricultural, and oil-producing identity, while the white background symbolizes peace and unity. The design was adopted in the mid-2000s after the post-2003 reorganization of Iraqi provinces, replacing earlier versions that used the national flag with a local seal.
