History
Southwest Papua became a province in 2022, and its flag was adopted soon afterward, with formal approval by the provincial parliament in 2023. The design uses an orange field and the provincial seal at the center. The seal’s shield signifies the province’s role as protector of its people, while the white five-pointed star represents the first principle of Pancasila. The orange background symbolizes natural wealth, sunrise, and a forward-looking spirit.
