Songkhla

The flag of Songkhla Province uses symbols tied to the province’s identity, history, and geography. Songkhla’s provincial flag was adopted in the mid-1970s as part of Thailand’s broader program of giving provinces distinct flags. The red, white, green, and blue symbolism described for the provincial design represents bravery and ancestral sacrifice, royal patronage and fertile land, and the province’s coastal location on the Gulf of Thailand; the white elephant motif is associated with Thai royal symbolism and was further linked with royal visits in 1871 and 1915.
