The flag of Saskatchewan is a horizontal green-over-gold bicolor with the provincial shield in the upper hoist and a red western red lily in the fly.
The flag of Saskatchewan was adopted on 22 September 1969 after a province-wide design contest that received more than 4,000 entries. It was designed by Anthony Drake. The green upper half represents the northern forests and grasslands, while the gold lower half represents the wheat fields and prairies of the south. The shield is derived from the provincial coat of arms granted in 1906, and the western red lily is the provincial floral emblem.
