Cedar flag first recorded
The first recorded use of a white flag with a green cedar was as a Maronite flag, an early design antecedent.
Mandate-era cedar tricolour adoptedThis flag
Greater Lebanon used the French blue-white-red tricolour with a cedar in the center of the white stripe until the 1943 change.
Current red-white-red flag adopted
A constitutional amendment replaced the vertical tricolour with horizontal red-white-red stripes and a green cedar in the center.
