History

The flag of Chiang Mai province represents the province with a central provincial seal. The seal features the golden chedi of Doi Suthep on a stylized green hill, flanked by two white elephants and encircled by red, white, and blue elements reflecting the symbolic palette of the Thai national flag. The chedi refers to Chiang Mai’s historic importance as the former capital of the Lanna Kingdom, while the elephants signify traditional royal patronage.
