The flag of Bago Region is a blue field with a central white roundel edged in green, displaying two golden hamsas and the region’s name in Burmese above.
Bago Region uses a blue flag centered with a white roundel edged in green, containing two golden hamsas and the Burmese name of the region above. The hamsa motif refers to a local legend in which, during a great flood, a male hamsa landed on a solitary rock and allowed the female to stand on its back; this image became an emblem of the region and appears on its seal. The blue field represents the sky and rivers, while the green border symbolizes the fertile land around the historic city. An earlier flag introduced in 1974 showed a single golden hamsa with the Burmese name for Bago Division, and after the 2010 administrative renaming this was updated to Bago Region; the current two-hamsa design came into use around 2018.
