Aalten

Aalten is a municipality located in North Holland, Netherlands. The flag has a horizontal bicolour of white at the top and green at the bottom. The green and white are derived from the municipal coat of arms. In this, green was used for the lime tree and the white for the background of the coat of arms. The flag is identical to the flag of Ridderkerk. It is possible that the future flag of Aalten will carry three stripes in green, blue and orange instead of two. This is because the current municipality was formed in 2005 from three municipalities, each with its own colour.
