This flag is a former version of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Diagonal-stripe flag adopted
Congo adopted a blue flag with a yellow canton star and a yellow-fimbriated red diagonal stripe.
Canton star reduced
The flag was slightly modified, producing the version used until the Zaire flag replaced it.
Zaire flag replaced it
The diagonal-stripe flag was replaced by Zaire’s green flag with a yellow circle and torch emblem.
Six-star flag readopted
After Zaire’s flag period, the country readopted a blue flag with one large central star and six smaller stars.
Six-star emblem constitutionally definedThis flag
The transition constitution described the national emblem as a sky-blue flag with a large central star and six smaller stars.
Current diagonal design adopted
A sky-blue field, yellow canton star, and yellow-fimbriated red diagonal band replaced the six-star flag.
