Flag of Nan Province, Thailand: a purple-over-yellow horizontal bicolor with the provincial seal centered and the province name on a blue ribbon below.
Nan Province’s flag was adopted by the Thai Ministry of Interior in 2000. It is a 2:3 provincial flag with purple over yellow and the provincial seal in the center above a blue ribbon with the province’s name. The seal depicts a Usuparatch, or water buffalo, carrying the stupa of Phra That Chae Haeng, reflecting a local legend tied to a boundary dispute between the rulers of Nan and Phrae. The purple field represents royal or historic prestige, while the yellow symbolizes prosperity and fertile land.
