The national flag of Mongolia is a red-blue-red vertical tricolor with a yellow Soyombo emblem on the hoist-side red band.
The flag of Mongolia has proportions of 1:2 and displays a red-blue-red vertical tricolor with the Soyombo on the hoist-side red band. The blue stripe represents the eternal blue sky, while the red stripes symbolize progress and prosperity and also reflect the country’s communist era in earlier interpretations. The yellow Soyombo is a traditional national symbol whose elements signify eternal growth, endurance, vigilance, balance, unity, and strength. A red-blue-red version with a Soyombo and a star was adopted in 1945; the star was removed on 12 January 1992, and the color shades were standardized in 2011.
