History

Kaunas County uses a flag based on its heraldic symbols. The design was formally adopted in 2008 as part of the standardization of Lithuanian county symbols after independence. Its symbolism is associated with the region’s historic Christian heritage, historic ties to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and the courage and vitality of its people.
