The flag of Quebec is a blue field divided by a bold white cross, with a white fleur-de-lis in each quarter.
Known as the Fleurdelisé, the flag of Quebec was officially adopted on 21 January 1948. Its white cross on blue draws from historic royal and maritime flags of France, while the four fleurs-de-lis reflect long-standing French royal symbolism and associations with the Virgin Mary. The design modernized the 18th-century Carillon Sacré-Cœur flag by removing the religious central image and rendering the fleurs-de-lis white and upright. It became the principal emblem of Quebec’s francophone identity and its historic ties to France.
